The Sickness is Over

I just had the most ridiculous two months. I believe I was sick 3 out of 4 days in January and February. I got into a routine of either being at work or being at home laying down. It’s hard trying to break the habit.

Seems like every week there is some reason not to go to church. KC and I went out of town Sunday morning. She gave me a guilt trip about church. I promised her we would go this Wednesday.

Speaking of KC, she is starting to read. Laurisa brought home some beginner readers and she actually reads them to me. Which now make her officially smarter then me.

Christmas Card

This is our Christmas Card. I’m going to have to find a children’s photographer from here on out. They don’t pose for me anymore.

The Power is Back On

I thought by last monday night that if the power hadn’t gone out we were probably safe. Then it when out around 3 a.m. The first night we stayed at a friends house in Edmond. The next day Laurisa realized that she probably wasn’t going to be back at work for the rest of the week. So she did the smart thing and headed to Stillwater with the girls. I can’t imagine what they would have done all week.

So while they were out of town I stayed home. The way I see it I used to go camping in colder weather with less to work with. Here I had several blankets and running hot water. When I was camping all I had was a couple of friends and a thin blanket. Although those nights keeping warm with John, Loren and sometimes Tom produced some real good stories most of you will never here about. All and all it wasn’t that bad. I had a bunch of candles and warm cloths. In reality access to hot water made all the difference.

Laurisa came home Friday night and we stayed with the Banta’s friends from her work Friday and Saturday night. Sunday afternoon Laurisa went and got the girls and had planned to go back to the Banta’s household. But around 5 p.m. last night the power came back on. More importantly the cable came back on with it.

Simple Job

I have come to the conclusion that what I do must seem very simple. Lately, at work, I have had a lot of people from the magazine tell me they can’t believe how long it takes to produce a picture. Really they are just starting to notice. The good news is that it seems that I am getting more of the writers and editors to schedule time with me instead of dropping projects in my lap the day before deadline.

It occurs to me as I write this some of you have no idea what I am talking about. The owner of the studio I work at started a magazine, distinctly Oklahoma. He originally wanted 5 hours a week from me to shoot for the magazine. It’s now up to 30 hours a week, on a slow week. That’s in addition to regular studio work. Right now having a day off means working less than 8 hours. Last week there was a 6 day stretch I was home less than 24 hours.

So next time you see me at church wake me up.

Model Car

I have had a model of the General Lee in the box for a couple of years. KC has been bugging me to put it together with her for awhile but it wasn’t unitl last week I thought she could handle it. But even then I was wrong. We got it out of the box and there was way more peices than I thought. she immidiatly wanted to put the wheels on, which is the last thing you do. I tried to get her to help but she lost intrest after five minutes. I thought it was one of those simple snap together deals but it had a bunch of very small parts. I lost a handfull of engine peices. But at least KC gets to take credit for putting a model together.

More Work

It’s been awhile since we have updated but we have both been swamped. Laurisa has been back to school for a couple of weeks but got caught up on work just this last thursday. This last week has been a good one for me. I worked just a bit over 40 hours, the slowest week I have had in months.

KC got a twin bed this weekend. Laurisa took Avery’s crib down and she will be in the toddler bed. They have been with my parents and neither one of them has seen the new set up yet.

I watched “300″ this week. It’s now in my top ten. It’s one of the best movies I have seen from a photography stand point. If you decide to watch remember it’s not a kid movie.

It Never Stops

There is a new pattern that has formed at the studio. It works like this. On Thursday my schedule for the next week is near empty. By mid-day Friday it is completely booked. Makes it almost impossible to schedule employees in advance. The good news is I have only two employees. I’m most likely going to let my office manager schedule her own self since she is the one that schedules the sessions and such.

The rumor is I’m getting a new Fuji S5 sometime soon. Along with a Nikon 80-200/2.8 lens. I requested both from the owner and he said yes. Which was a huge surprise to me but they really are necessities.

Tranformers Doesn’t Dissapoint

Last night I went to see Transformers with Tim. The last three movies I went have been Spiderman 3, Live free or Die Hard and Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. While each of these movies was good they were pretty much what I expected. Transformers was far better than I expected. It was very well thought out with out being overly weighty. It was well worth it.

The Girls

DCP_5348

I just love this pic and thought I’d share.

DCP_5371

Avery is almost always happy. This week Brent and I noticed that she no longer walks down the hall, she runs. I like this picture because everytime we get in the car, Avery has to have her baby and blanket.
